Why is your information collected?
Your data is collected so that I can supply my products and services to you in a professional and timely manner, or so that I can provide you with information (such as a quote) that you have requested.
What information is collected.
The information needed to supply my services to you are as follows: Your names, address, a phone number and your email address.
I also need the date, location, and time of your wedding as I may find it difficult photographing your big day without it. I could just find a wedding happening nearby and photograph that, but I don't think you would be happy with the photos if I did...
What do I do with your information?
I use your information to contact you regarding your photography, services you have requested, and for the fulfillment of my contract with you. I do not send out emails with details of our latest offers etc. These are posted on my social media pages and web site.
What I don't do with your information.
I do not share your personal information with any third parties at any time unless there is a legitimate legal basis, or I am legally required, to do so. If I need to share your information with a third party without a legitimate legal basis or requirement, such as if I am unable to complete your wedding due to ill health, then I will always seek your permission first.
How I keep your information safe.
I was tempted to say I put it under my mattress as no one would ever think of looking for it there, but that may not considered a safe and secure place by the nice people at ICO, especially as I sleep very heavily and do not wake to noises, or movement, easily.
Instead I thought it would be a good idea to keep it in a locked filing cabinet unless I need to access it to get in touch with you, or perform my duties to you as your wedding photographer, so that is what I do.
How long do I keep your data?
I keep your data on file for seven years. This is because the tax man (in all his glory) can request such informaton as contracts, receipts and other stuff for up to six years after the event has occured. During this time it is kept in a locked filing cabinet, and is then shredded after the seven years are up.
Do I store your personal information digitally?
I do store some of your information digitally for as long as I need to fulfil your contract and/or the services you have requested from me. This will be your email address in our email client, and your phone number on my business mobile.
As I back up your photo's free of charge for a minimum of 5 years I do need to be able to find them if you need copies, thus your first names and wedding date are used as a naming convention for the folder they are kept in on external hard drives. These are also locked in the filing cabinet when not being used.
Can I ask you to send me any personal information you have on me?
Yes you can, and I will be happy to do so.
Can I ask you to delete the personal information you have on me?
Yes you can, but this may also include deleting some of the photo's and backup photos that could be used to identify yourselves. In some cases I may not be able to delete your data, but I will let you know why if this is the case.
